The Guild for the Blind

helps adults live independent active lives. We work individually with each person to address their specific goals. Our services are offered free-of-charge in a supportive environment by professionally trained staff both at the Guild and at various community sites.

Creating new possibilities

Elaine is sitting at a desk laden with energy drinks and smiling.“I’m the first visually impaired person my company hired. They didn’t think we could do the work. Now that they see me and how well I’m doing, they want to hire more people with vision loss." Read Elaine's Story.

Passionate Focus 2010

A photograph of a very vibrant red flower. This photograph, titled Tangelo, is the work of Kurt Weston and was submitted for Passionate Focus in 2009.The 8th annual Passionate Focus art exhibit was held May 13-21. This exhibit celebrates the work of artists from across the country. Each of the artists is an individual with vision loss, however, the Guild focuses not on what they cannot see but rather on their unique vision. A professional jury selects these artists based solely on the artistic merit of their work—the jury is not provided with any information about the artists' visual impairment. Visit our Passionate Focus website for more information, to see photos of the art or read more about our opening reception.
