Volunteer Opportunities

Micky Holdsworth, the Guild's 2011 Volunteer of the Year with Kathy Austin, Volunteer Coordinator and David Tabak, Executive Director
Micky Holdsworth, 2011 Volunteer of the Year, accepts her award from Kathy Austin and David Tabak. Micky was selected by the Guild staff as the volunteer who made the greatest impact on our programs: she began an Apple tutoring program, assisted in the development of our RP support group and serves on our Communications Committee. We welcome you to join the Guild's Volunteer Team!

Our volunteers play a vital role in the Guild's ability to provide service to people with vision loss. From helping us spread the word about our services and manning the front desk, to designing our annual reports and updating our computers, there is always some place your talents and skills can be put to good use.

Some ways you can help include:

• Administrative support
• Marketing and communications
• Fund raising
• Special events
• Photography
• Website development and maintenance
• Internet research
• Computer maintenance
• Braille transcription and embossing
• Audio recording and editing
• Driving

Volunteers with specialized skills can also help us provide service to our members. If you have experience in vision rehabilitation, career counseling or adaptive technology, you can help us with program development and tutoring.

The Guild also offers internships for master degree candidates in the fields of counseling, psychology and communications. These are unpaid internships offering direct contact with clients and great hands-on experience.

Whether it is a short-term project or continuing service, we welcome your help! Please fill out the Volunteer application or contact Kathy Austin at kathya@guildfortheblind.org to learn how you can help.

The Guild would like to thank the following people and companies for providing their pro bono professional services to the Guild and our members:
