Meghan Sims

I was born with Achromatopsia, which means I have no color vision, am near sighted and painfully sensitive to light. Growing up, I had a difficult time coping and adjusting to the world around me. I spent the majority of my life trying to hide my disability and only found release and complete comfort when painting.

Art and the complete creative freedom that it offers has always played a major role in my life and has ultimately shown me how to communicate my emotions and visual perception with the world around me.

I have spent the last 10 years discovering and rediscovering my voice as an artist. More recently, I have pursued private instruction in painting and photography. I learned to utilize the camera as a visual tool to capture images I otherwise would not have been able to see.

I hope to share the profound effect art made in my life. I believe it has an intense power to heal and is a universal communicator for all to see.
