Computer Training Center

Tutorials/Independent Study

Joan P. Hussey Independent Lab

The Joan P. Hussey Independent Lab is open to all individuals who are blind or visually impaired during the Guild's regular office hours.

Individuals can use the lab for personal projects, school work, to reinforce lessons from Guild classes, or to learn to use the computer through self-paced tutorials.

Darlene Schwartz Tutorial Training Program

Tutorial training allows students to learn adaptive technology and software applications at their own pace using audiocassettes or interactive CD-ROMs. Students can participate in tutorial training during open lab hours. Appointments must be made in advance to schedule a tutorial session. The tutorial fee for each one-hour period used is $10.00. The tutorial programs available include:

Keyboard and Typing
Introduction to: JAWS® for Windows, ZoomText®,
MAGic®, or Window Eyes®
Windows 98/2000/XP
MS Word®
Internet Explorer®
Outlook Express®
Outlook 2000®
MS Excel®
MS Access®
MS PowerPoint®
MS FrontPage 2000®
