David Simpson Camels Night Song to Hummingbird $1,000
Looking at the facts of the real world through the lens of the magical realist has been crucial in recovering from my sense of paralysis and defeat after my visual impairment took hold in my everyday life. What I once thought were the most important things that I just could not live without were being taken away from me. The result of the pain of that reanalysis caused me to see that I still had cause to be grateful." Camels Night Song to Hummingbird was a romantic piece. All the shapes and colors for me felt like a song being sung in the wilderness. Blind Leading the Bewildered $1,200 SOLD
The idea for this piece came from when I was taking part in some mobility training session. I felt that a part of me was a complete idiot and was unwilling to accept that I was having visual problems and kept getting lost. It seemed that there was another side of me taking over, a smaller side of me that wasn't ashamed of using a guide stick and wasn't going to get hurt because big fat ego self was not ready to take up the helm. All art that is not marked as ‘SOLD” is available for purchase. If you are interested in any of these pieces, please contact Cheryl Megurdichian at 312-236-8569 or cherylm@guildfortheblind.org. For each piece purchased, 70% of the purchase price goes to the artist, 20% goes to the Guild, and 10% goes to Fourth Presbyterian Church, which is hosting the exhibit. For tax purposes, 30% of the purchase price is considered a charitable donation. Back to 2005 Passionate Focus Art Exhibit page
