Charles lost part of his vision at the age of 20. He readjusted and learned how to live and use his blindness in the cultural arts. He became a Sacramento County CETA artist in the 1970s and has worked with the disabled in art. Today he is affiliated with the San Francisco Hospitality House's Art Workshop and the Access Studios in Berkeley, CA.
