Auto Reflections (2003) I would like this image to communicate metaphorically the duality of the automobile's influence on our lives in the modern/machine age. On one hand delivering the gift of freedom and independence symbolized by its pristine material brilliance and its antenna pointed skyward toward the heavens and spiritual liberation. But at the same time distorted trees and commercial references in the photograph allude to a legacy of raped and ravaged environment, and a culture hell-bent and obsessed with material gain at the expense of universal brotherhood and compassionate love.
Side by Side (2003) I'd like this photograph to convey that there is a divinity in essence at the core of all manifestation. Even that which is commonplace and inanimate has this impulse. This spirit/nature can become apparent in many ways when we are open to perceiving it. Here, these cement bags, which seem to revel in the intimacy of conversation/communication, reveal an almost human character, an anthropomorphic likeness, and perhaps even a sense of humor.
