Paul Poncillia (Three Rivers, MI)

Ice Wind (2003) This piece is a stylized depiction of a musk ox, which is a husky goat like animal that roams in herds in the furthest reaches of the Artic tundra. Since its hair is coarse and long and hangs to the ground, the icy Artic winds constantly "restyle" it into an infinite variety of "hairdos." In the case of this piece, the wind is coming from the right shoulder and flipping the hair out from under the left side. To me, the musk ox symbolizes the very essence of the spiritual/animal interface that can exist only in an environment nearly devoid of human predators.
